And now it looks like the in-demand actor is about to add a long-gestating elevated horror sequel to her CV. Per Deadline‘s reporting, the End Of The F***ing World BAFTA winner is in final talks to star opposite Maika Monroe in They Follow, David Robert Mitchell’s hotly anticipated follow-up to modern horror classic It Follows.

Officially confirmed to be in development back in 2023 after years of whispers and rumours, They Follow was announced with both Mitchell and Monroe’s returns confirmed upfront. Since then, the trail had seemingly gone cold on the sequel, with Monroe continuing to cement her modern scream queen status in films like Longlegs and The Hand That Rocks The Cradle. Now though, not only do we have an almost locked in major new addition to the cast, but we also a timeframe that They Follow is set in. According to Deadline, while plot details on Mitchell’s movie remain firmly under wraps, it is set to take place a decade after the events of the first movie. And for those in need of a refresher, that first movie followed Monroe’s Jay as she found herself the target of unstoppable supernatural forces after having sex with her boyfriend, doomed to die unless she passed on the curse by — you guessed it! — making the proverbial beast with two backs with some other unsuspecting horndog.

How things will pick up here is anybody’s guess, but from the premise of the first movie it’s safe to assume we’re in for more STC (that’s sexually transmitted curse, obvs) action in David Robert Mitchell’s follow-up (Follows-up?). With cameras due to roll this summer on They Follow, we will follow this one closely in the weeks and months to come… just, uhh, not too closely, y’know?
