You can always count on Robert Pattinson to bring something unexpected to a role. This, after all, is the guy who based his two Mickey 17<\/em> clones on Ren and Stimpy, who transformed his voice completely to dub a cantankerous magic bird in The Boy And The Heron<\/em>, and brought emo grit to Bruce Wayne in The Batman<\/em>. And in The Odyssey<\/em> \u2013 his second collaboration with Christopher Nolan, following Tenet<\/em> \u2013 he\u2019s relishing playing the villain. He takes on the role of Antinous, an antagonistic figure back in Odysseus\u2019 home of Ithaca; who, hoping that our far-flung hero is out of the picture for good, begins scheming to take his place, vying for the attention of Odysseus\u2019 wife, Anne Hathaway\u2019s Penelope.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Safe to say, Odysseus and Penelope\u2019s son Telemachus \u2013 played by Tom Holland \u2013 isn\u2019t best pleased. Pattinson gets it. \u201cI mean, he\u2019s just the worst stepfather you could possibly have,\u201d he grins of Antinous. This is his third time starring alongside Holland, after The Lost City Of Z<\/em> and The Devil All The Time<\/em> \u2013 and whenever the two pair up, it\u2019s always in a film where Pattinson is going\u2026 well, weird. \u201cI always end up doing these slithery things with Tom and I don\u2019t know why,\u201d he says, noting that The Odyssey<\/em> is no different. \u201cThis was just a fun part to play: \u2018I just want to be your daddy. I want to be your daddy. That\u2019s all I want!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n For all the taunting, Holland was pleased to be reunited with his regular co-star. \u201cHaving a familiar face and someone that I could share the screen with was a real safety blanket for me,\u201d he explains. \u201cI\u2019m always eager to share scenes with Rob, because he just brings the best out of everyone.\u201d And, by the sounds of it, we\u2019re in for another thrillingly oddball Pattinson performance. \u201cI admire his ability to take big swings and make them feel like the perfect decision for that character,\u201d says Holland.
