It would appear that rumours (well, shrewd marketing) of The Conjuring<\/em> franchise’s death with 2025’s terminally titled Last Rites<\/em> were greatly exaggerated. Not only has a HBO Max spin-off series already been commissioned to continue the highest-grossing horror movie series of all time’s legacy, but also a prequel movie \u2014 The Conjuring: First Communion<\/em> \u2014 set to dig into paranormal investigator spouses Ed and Lorraine Warren’s early demonological days. And now, thanks to Dread Central<\/em>, we know who’s stepping into Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga’s holy water blessed shoes for the saga’s next instalment.<\/p>\n

Per Dread Central<\/em>‘s reporting, The Long Walk<\/em>‘s Garrett Wareing is on board to play Ed Warren in First Communion<\/em>, while Amanda Fix \u2014 soon to be seen in Jane Schoenbrun’s hotly anticipated Teenage Sex And Death At Camp Miasma<\/em> \u2014 will be getting her second sight on as Ed’s clairvoyant wife Lorraine Warren. Plot specifics for the movie, directed by first-time feature filmmaker Rodrigue Huart and penned by The Autopsy Of Jane Doe<\/em> duo Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, are being kept under wraps for now \u2014 though we strongly suspect there will probably be some demonic goings-on here, and we sincerely hope there will be some guitar serenading from Wareing’s Ed Warren.<\/p>\n

While further details on Huart’s movie \u2014 or indeed that above-mentioned HBO Max show \u2014 are sparse, now that shooting is officially underway on The Conjuring: First Communion<\/em>, we can probably expect some more morsels and teases to start trickling through in the coming weeks and months. And with the film currently slated to hit cinemas on 10 September, 2027 (notably a few months after Conjuring Universe adjacent joint The Curse Of La__Llorona<\/em>‘s 9 April, 2027 dated sequel The Revenge of La Llorona<\/em>), we’ve only just over a year to go until we’ll be clutching our rosaries, praying for mercy, and making heart hands at the Warrens once again.
