Infinity Ward has said it features weapon builds developed by the studio’s Weapons Team, and can instantly configure close-, mid-, or long-range builds tailored to different approaches to combat. In a blog post, Activision said Gunny “brings a Gunnery Sergeant’s eye to weapon customization.”

The new feature hit the headlines after a screenshot of Modern Warfare 4 showing the new Gunsmith user interface went viral on social media. In the image, we see Gunny “speak” to the player via text reminiscent of the kind of dialogue we’re now used to seeing from the likes of ChatGPT.

“Hello, I can help you build a weapon when you have more attachments unlocked,” Gunny says. “Keep leveling your weapon.” You can press RT to access Gunny from Gunsmith.

Modern Warfare 4’s Gunsmith incorporates Gunny, which you can see in the bottom right of this image. In a reply, the developer insisted Gunny offers developer-tuned setups for quick loadout swaps between matches.

“Wrong (again.)” Infinity Ward said.

“Gunny is hand crafted by our developers, not AI. It recommends builds based on the attachments you’ve unlocked for each weapon. TheGhostOfHope is well known in the Call of Duty community for leaks, some of which Activision has called out as wrong in the past. For example, in February, TheGhostOfHope claimed that “sources” had indicated that Activision planned to launch a standalone Zombies game. That claim prompted an official response from the Call of Duty account, which poured cold water on the “leak.” “The rumor factory working overtime. This ain’t it,” the account said.

Then, in March, Activision demanded TheGhostOfHope stop releasing confidential information about the series, insisting that even when leaks are wrong they cause problems. TheGhostOfHope agreed, although has continued to comment on Call of Duty generally.

The Best Call of Duty Campaigns

<img alt="Following its debut in 2003, Call of Duty quickly ascended to become the best-selling first-person shooter series ever, a title it continues to hold to this day. That’s almost entirely down to its ever-popular multiplayer, which keeps fans playing day in, day out. But there are, of course, two sides to Call of Duty. Standing side-by-side the PvP are the single-player campaigns, which, for those of us a little unwilling to huck ourselves into the online hellhole and compete in the Call of Duty combat cauldron, tell cinematic stories straight from the front line.

But which Call of Duty games have the greatest campaigns? IGN’s keenest and most experienced Call of Duty fans have combined to carve out a list of our favourite single-player stories, plucked from all throughout the series’ two-decade-and-change history. We’re looking for campaigns that champion Call of Duty’s greatest strengths: those with great mission variety, ambitious set-pieces, and novel mechanics, as well as the more traditional “great FPS” staples like strong level design and memorable storytelling. Only the campaigns that have it all can truly rise to the top of this list, which means this year’s somewhat muddled Black Ops 7 didn’t quite make the cut. But which ones did?

Here are our top 10 Call of Duty campaigns.
” decoding=”async” class=”progressive-image jsx-2896921488 image aspect-ratio aspect-ratio-16-9 jsx-2605834259 jsx-2338608387 hover-opacity” loading=”lazy” src=”https://imdbnews.ir/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/wrong-again-infinity-ward-fires-back-at-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-4-gunny-ai-chatbot-claim.gif” data-cy=”progressive-image”>

While Gunny may not be an AI chatbot exactly, Activision has come under fire in the past for its use of AI in the Call of Duty series.
