For example, Howard told IGN back in 2019 \u2014 after Microsoft had bought Obsidian \u2014 that BGS has \u201calways had a great relationship with them\u201d and, on New Vegas, \u201cthere\u2019s only one group that we really trust to do this, and it was awesome.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">\u201cFor me, it was either this group or nobody,&#8221; Howard said.<\/p>\n<p><span data-cy=\"slideshow-view-trigger\"><\/p>\n<div data-cy=\"slideshow-preview\" class=\"jsx-1711207865 slideshow-preview\">\n<h3 class=\"title5 jsx-62124236 jsx-1085005187\" data-cy=\"slideshow-preview-title\">Every IGN Fallout Review<\/h3>\n<div data-cy=\"slideshow-images-container\" class=\"jsx-1711207865 images-container\"><button type=\"button\" data-cy=\"hero-image\" aria-label=\"Open Slideshow\" class=\"jsx-1711207865 hero-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt aria-hidden=\"true\" role=\"presentation\" class=\"progressive-image jsx-2896921488 image aspect-ratio aspect-ratio-16-9 jsx-2605834259 jsx-2338608387 hover-opacity\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/imdbnews.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/todd-howard-dismisses-fan-chatter-about-purported-rivalry-between-bethesda-and-obsidian-as-the-new-vegas-developer-starts-work-on-a-new-fallout-game.gif\" data-cy=\"progressive-image\"><span class=\"button-text jsx-729543028 button button--primary jsx-3381835873 jsx-4266531355 row-pagination-button next contained centered round large\" data-cy=\"paginate next\" title=\"Open Slideshow\"><span class=\"ign-icon right-chevron jsx-2750866048 jsx-2919720488\" role=\"presentation\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-cy=\"right-chevron\"><\/span><\/span><\/button><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Fast forward to 2026, in the wake of Xbox\u2019s latest round of layoffs and confirmation that Obsidian is once again working on a new Fallout game, Howard told Windows Central that BGS is \u201csuper excited\u201d to be collaborating with the Avowed, The Outer Worlds, Grounded, and Pentiment developer.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;I appreciate some of the fan chatter, but behind the scenes, there&#8217;s a huge amount of mutual respect [between Bethesda and Obsidian],\u201d Howard said. \u201cWe&#8217;re always kind of wondering if we could find a way to work together in the right way. And when those things come up, I think I definitely look at the franchise all up, as you see in the note, everything that&#8217;s kind of happening with Fallout.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;You sort of say, is there a way or a window or a pocket where we could do something together that really, really made sense? And so we&#8217;re super excited about the opportunity, working together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span data-cy=\"faceoff-view-trigger\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Howard&#8217;s mention of &#8220;the note&#8221; is a reference to the roadmap BGS revealed today. It confirms Fallout 5 had entered pre-production and Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters are in the works. While we now know Obsidian\u2019s Fallout game is real, we don\u2019t know what it is. Could it be Fallout: New Vegas 2? Or perhaps a different Fallout game entirely?<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Obsidian was hit by the Xbox layoffs, too, and reportedly canceled Avowed 2 as part of new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma\u2019s focus on the company\u2019s biggest franchises. That of course includes The Elder Scrolls VI, which is BGS\u2019s focus.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;Fallout is one of our biggest priorities today,&#8221; Howard said in his message to fans. &#8220;Fallout 5 remains our long-range destination, and we have multiple Fallout projects in active development right now.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;Fallout 76 continues to be home to millions of players exploring Appalachia together. With nearly 70 free updates released to date, the journey is far from over. In fact, we have a major Fallout 76 expansion planned for next year: Raven Rock, a prequel story to Fallout 3.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;Fallout 4, the most award-winning game in the franchise, just celebrated its 10-year anniversary and recently passed over 35 million copies sold, continuing to attract a new audience every year.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we&#8217;re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;Fallout Shelter continues to be the most popular way to experience Fallout on the go, with more than 250 million players. There\u2019s more ahead for Fallout Shelter, including new Seasons. An unscripted Fallout Shelter television project is also in the works with our partners at Amazon Studios and Kilter Films.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;We&#8217;d like to congratulate Kilter Films and Amazon Studios on the 10 Emmy nominations for Fallout Season 2.
