Today at Comic-Con, Oni Press announced a new Scott Pilgrim comic called Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">As first revealed by Gizmodo, Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott is a one-shot prequel to the recently released beat-em-up game Scott Pilgrim EX (which also makes this a sequel to the animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off). Sparks flew. The two of them had to work together in order to defeat Ramona\u2019s Seven Evil Exes and their nefarious leader, Gideon Gordon Graves. Some other stuff happened in various media formats that may or may not be canon. That\u2019s all in the past. These days, Scott and Ramona are a happy couple, and the Exes have moved on from their unhealthy obsessions. I guess they all got therapy or whatever. Now, after a period of peace, a new threat is about to emerge. Are our heroes ready? Let\u2019s find out!!!<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">\u201cWhen I was asked to create a minicomic for Scott Pilgrim EX, I quickly said yes without considering the implications,\u201d O\u2019Malley said in a statement. \u201cOnly when I started writing and drawing it did I realize this would be the first new Scott Pilgrim comic in 16 years. It\u2019s only a trifle, but returning to Scott\u2019s Toronto really did feel like coming home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Scott Pilgrim EX: Dawn of Metal Scott will be released on November 15. You can preorder a copy at your local comic shop.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">In IGN&#8217;s Scott Pilgrim EX review, Will Borger writes, &#8220;Scott Pilgrim EX is the latest in a long line of retro revivals from Tribute Games, and like all of its previous works, the developer has done an admirable job of producing a beat \u2018em up that builds on its predecessor while adding much appreciated gameplay depth and plenty of replayability. I love EX\u2019s RPG systems (simple as they are), its world, and how there is  always another interesting character to try when I get bored. But it\u2019s also a game that grapples with the passage of time, even if it perhaps doesn\u2019t mean to. The modern beat \u2018em up exists because of the games that came before, but they were often far more limited. With the passage of time, we\u2019ve returned to those ideas and refined them. Like Scott Pilgrim itself, those games have gone from something that was new to something that is now referenced. Nostalgia is a powerful drug, but a bittersweet one, and Scott Pilgrim EX understands that. You can go back in time, but you can\u2019t go back to the way things were. All that\u2019s left is to appreciate where you\u2019ve been and enjoy what\u2019s here now. And you know what?
