Of all the films in all the world to try and mount a remake of, The Thomas Crown Affair<\/em> is one that takes some serious cojones. The art heist classic has already been done \u2014 and done exceptionally well \u2014 twice before, once with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway back in 1968, then again three decades later with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. Who could possibly tackle a third take on this cool-as-you-like crook thriller? Michael B. Jordan, that’s who. And if the first trailer for the director-star’s first live-action film since Oscar winner Sinners<\/em> is anything to go by, then we’re in for a slick, sexy, stylish fresh take on the time-tested classic. ‘From Academy Award winner Michael B. Jordan’ sure has some ring to it, doesn’t it? And the man’s clearing gunning for a ‘two-time Academy Award winner’ credit in the near future if this first look at his Thomas Crown Affair<\/em> is anything to go by. Back in the director’s seat for the first time since Creed III<\/em>, Jordan’s globe-trotting heist thriller is set to reframe the original movies’ premise and recast Thomas Crown (MBJ himself) in a not entirely dissimilar role to the other<\/em> righteous art thief in the filmmaker’s back catalogue, Black Panther<\/em>‘s Eric Killmonger \u2014 at least in the sense that this Crown is less ‘white guy nicks priceless art for funsies’ and more ‘conscientious latter-day Robin Hood nicks priceless art to return to its rightful creators’. But fear not, it’s not all<\/em> just moral righteousness: as this teaser shows, we’re also getting MBJ’s Crown sharing sizzling tension with an on-his-tail former FBI agent played by Adria Arjona; another villainous turn from Kenneth Branagh; and a slew of sartorially striking fits and slick action set-pieces to boot.<\/p>\n

Also set to feature Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurria, and Pilou Asb\u00e6k, Michael B. Jordan’s The Thomas Crown Affair<\/em> \u2014 written by Drew Pearce (The Fall Guy<\/em>, Hotel Artemis<\/em>) and Jason Hall (American Sniper<\/em>) and shot for IMAX \u2014 is set to steal its way into cinemas, and hopefully the hearts of audiences worldwide, in 2027.
