He\u2019s spoken at length about his favorite titles, most recently retweeting a sculpture of Resident Evil 2\u2019s Super Tyrant with an excited, \u201cAaaaah~.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">We got the chance to sit down with the acclaimed filmmaker at San Diego Comic Con 2026, where he celebrated the 20th anniversary of Pan&#8217;s Labyrinth. (It\u2019s no surprise \u2014 he starred in the game, after all.) \u201cShadow of the Colossus made me introspective about so many intangible things. Bioshock, it\u2019s a world I could get lost in for ages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">However, his most surprising favorite doesn\u2019t feature brooding themes or a dark, shadowy world. Instead, it\u2019s one of the most popular mobile games of all time, notably featuring an iconic, upbeat theme song and bright, happy colors: Angry Birds.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">\u201cEvery day of my life, every moment I have free, I\u2019m still playing Angry Birds. I\u2019m really good at it,\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">On the more predictable end of what you\u2019d expect from del Toro\u2019s tastes, he also revealed that he\u2019s a massive fan of Dead Cells, though he jokingly asked the game\u2019s developers to make a version without respawning for the older gamers out there.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">\u201cDead Cells was really interesting to me,\u201d he explained. \u201cI just hate respawning, because you only get about 35 levels and then you start again. You get faster, but please, do a version without respawning for the older, for the elderly players. I\u2019m available. Contact me and send it to me, please.
