As the double-whammy of <em>Avengers: Doomsday<\/em> and <em>Avengers: Secret Wars<\/em> looms \u2013 following off the back of <em>Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/em>, out now in cinemas \u2013 the mega comic book saga is gearing up to introduce mutants, and therefore the X-Men, into its continuity. We already have a few (see <em>Ms. Marvel<\/em>, which confirmed that Kamala Khan is in fact a mutant in this telling), and now it seems one more has been added to the list.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>As reported by <em>Deadline<\/em>, Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost for the upcoming X-Men movie, set to be directed by <em>Thunderbolts<\/em>\u2019 Jake Schreier. While Marvel has no comment on the casting, the report states that Schreier and Feige met with several candidates for the role before Weaving iced it. Frost has telepathic abilities and can shift into a diamond form \u2013 with the character previously portrayed in <em>X-Men: First Class<\/em> by January Jones.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>Weaving, meanwhile, has been known particularly to horror fans for her turns in <em>Ready Or Not<\/em> (and this year\u2019s sequel <em>Ready Or Not 2: Here I Come<\/em>), <em>The Babysitter<\/em> movies, and an appearance in <em>Scream VI<\/em>. It seems she\u2019s ready to swap scream queen duties for screaming hordes of comic-book fans.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>The MCU\u2019s exact plans for an X-Men movie are yet to be confirmed \u2013 the recent Hall H Comic-Con panel revolved around Doomsday, an incoming Ghost Rider movie with Ryan Gosling, and the casting of David Jonsson for <em>Black Panther 3<\/em>. Marvel may be keeping their powder dry until after <em>Doomsday<\/em> hits cinemas this December before making any big X-confirmations \u2013 but with Weaving\u2019s casting already here, stay tuned for any additional X-Men announced in the near future.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It looks like the MCU is finally getting ready to mutate.
