Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/em> and Marvel Studios’ Doomsday trailer\/SDCC panel one-two punch may have the internet in an MCU state of mind right about now, but over at DC Studios HQ there’s plenty of exciting developments afoot, too. James Watkins’ Clayface<\/em> and HBO Max’s Lanterns<\/em> are mere weeks away. James Gunn’s Superman<\/em> sequel, Man Of Tomorrow<\/em>, is in production. And so too (finally) is Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II<\/em>. Now, another buzzy DCU project \u2014 American Vandal<\/em> creators Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda’s Jimmy Olsen centred true-crime mockumentary series \u2014 has found its female lead.<\/p>\n

Per Deadline<\/em>‘s reporting, Mary Holland \u2014 star of Happiest Season<\/em>, Little House On The Prairie<\/em>, and the American iteration of Ghosts<\/em> \u2014 has been cast as Sandra in the show, billed as ‘a true-crime docuseries’ hosted by Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen and featuring his colleagues at the Daily Planet. Who exactly Sandra is, we do not know. How exactly Sandra factors into the series, we do not know. Sandra’s last name? We don’t even know that. Buuuuut<\/em>, and do take this with a sizeable pinch of salt, there is a notable Sandra in the DC Comics world who first appeared in a Jimmy Olsen comic: Lois Lane’s sister Lucy, who adopts the persona of a red-haired actress named Sandra Rogers in the comics and has married Jimmy not once but twice<\/em> over the years. And Holland does have more than a passing resemblance to the DCU’s Lois, Rachel Brosnahan \u2014 so there’s that, too. But again, nothing has been confirmed beyond the name Sandra at this stage.<\/p>\n

Holland joins Jimmy Tatro’s astute, evil, astutely evil simian supervillain Gorilla Grodd in Perrault and Yacenda’s show, believed to be titled DC Crime<\/em>. We’re not sure when exactly cameras are due to start rolling on this one just yet, but with a cast starting to take shape and a Superman<\/em> sequel on the horizon next year, expect to hear plenty more about Olsen and co’s spin-off very soon. Watch this space for more just as soon as we get it!<\/p>\n
