The first half of 2026 gave us <em>A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms<\/em>, further expanding the timeline of Westeros on screen, followed by a barnstorming third season of House Of The Dragon. And while Season 3 delivered huge moves \u2013 with Rhaenyra ascending the throne, several major deaths, and new foes emerging in the ongoing Targaryen Civil War \u2013 the finale comes with a pang for fans: it\u2019s going to be another two year wait before we get the fourth and final season.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>But, as showrunner Ryan Condal assured <em>Empire<\/em> \u2013 speaking on the Pilot TV podcast \u2013 the development process on Season 4 is all on track to bring the Dance Of Dragons to a close. And it\u2019s going to be a full-throttle ride. \u201cThe whole season is payoff,\u201d says Condal. \u201cWe\u2019re all on schedule, prep starts in the fall. So we\u2019ll go back and start revising the scripts, planning sets, location scouts are already happening over the course of the summer to figure out new places we\u2019re going. And then before you know it, hammers will be swinging and 3.4 million screws will be being put together at Leavesden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>Beyond pre-production in the later months of 2026, Condal says they plan to begin production itself at the start of the new year. And, in the meantime, <em>Thrones<\/em> fans will get A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Season 2 next year while they wait. \u201cWe\u2019ll start again filming early 2027, and I\u2019m really looking forward to the Last Dance, as we\u2019re calling it on our side,\u201d he confirms. Expect much more fire, and blood, as the Targaryen family tree tears itself apart. \u201cThere will certainly be more dragons, I can guarantee you that,\u201d he promises.
