Not content with scaring our socks off in Andy Muschietti&#8217;s <em>IT<\/em> and its 2019 sequel, everyone&#8217;s favourite dancing clown Pennywise returned to our screens for more macabre, make-up clad malevolence last year in spin-off series <em>IT: Welcome To Derry<\/em>, a prequel set 27 years before The Loser Club first encountered Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd&#8217;s vaude-villain. Now, in news that&#8217;ll come as a surprise to approximately nobody, _Variety&#8217;_s reporting that <em>Welcome To Derry<\/em> Season 2 is officially floating our way&#8230; and we already have some plot details to share.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>With Season 1 of <em>Welcome To Derry<\/em> having taken viewers to 1962, following a fresh batch of kids as they took on Pennywise and unearthed IT&#8217;s ancient origins, Season 2 is now set to turn the dial back further to 1935, where a fresh batch of unsuspecting folk await to satiate the killer clown&#8217;s ravenous appetite. &#8220;Season two takes place in 1935 during the Great Depression and centers on the bloody massacre of the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy ammo and end up facing unimaginable horror,&#8221; reads this new season&#8217;s official synopsis. Given the backwards time-jump here, we aren&#8217;t expecting many \u2014 if any \u2014 of Season 1&#8217;s cast to show up in <em>Welcome To Derry<\/em> Season 2 (beyond, perhaps, some flashback\/forward shenanigans), but Andy Muschietti has previously teased that the parents and grandparents of the families we&#8217;ve already met will be involved in expanding the Pennywise mythos, so there is that to look forward to.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content_content__i0P3p\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>With Brad Caleb Kane (<em>Crystal Lake<\/em>) returning as now-sole showrunner, plans already long-since in place for a third season set in 1908, and <em>that<\/em> Season 1 finale having completely changed our understanding of IT, how IT works, and what IT even is, consider us very intrigued to see how the next piece of HBO&#8217;s chilling puzzle slots into place when <em>IT: Welcome To Derry<\/em> Season 2 arrives on our screens. We don&#8217;t have a release window for this one just yet, but given that a writers&#8217; room has already opened and fan appetite for a return to Derry is positively ravenous, we&#8217;d advise covering up any nearby storm drains and disassembling any paper boats you may have made recently.
