After D23’s major X-Men MCU cast reveal last month, things had been all quiet on the mutant front for a little while… until now, that is. Per THR‘s reporting, Jake Schreier’s hotly anticipated mutie movie has just cast a key member of Professor X’s superhero team — and it’s someone who knows a thing or two about playing a superpowered character. Asa Germann, perhaps best known as Gen V‘s super strong Sam Riordan, is officially set to play X-Men OG Warren Worthington III — aka Angel — in Schreier’s upcoming MCU film.

As THR reports, Germann had originally auditioned for the role of Scott Summers/Cyclops in the MCU’s first X-Men movie. But while Heartstopper star Kit Connor eventually landed that particular gig, Marvel Studios’ top brass were impressed enough with Germann — most recently seen in Scream 7 earlier this year — that they offered him the role of the X-Team’s high flying mutant hero, instead. And it must be said, it’s a shrewd casting move on Marvel’s part given Germann’s eye-catching turn in Amazon’s X-Men-riffing The Boys spin-off series. It’ll be fascinating to see how the up-and-comer follows in the wing flaps of previous Angels Ben Foster (X-Men: The Last Stand) and Ben Hardy (X-Men: Apocalypse).

As it stands then, the X-Men currently set for the mutants’ MCU debut proper are Kit Connor as Cyclops, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Obsession breakout Inde Navarette as Rogue, and newcomer Maya Boyd as Storm. Elsewhere, Christopher Abbott is on to play the mutants’ leader Charles ‘Professor X’ Xavier, Samara Weaving is down as the icy-powered Emma Frost, and Adam Driver is set to channel his sinister side as Nathaniel Milbury… aka Nathaniel Essex… aka, well, Mister Sinister. With three of the comics’ original X-Men team already in Schreier’s line-up, could Beast and Iceman casting announcements be imminent? Only time will tell. But with X-Men heading to a cinema near you on 5 May, 2028, we expect we’ll be hearing plenty more about this one very soon.

Sources Links

THR

To me, my X-Men casting news!
