According to <em>THR<\/em>, the versatile Colombian actor has just joined the cast of <em>F1<\/em> director Joseph Kosinski&#8217;s upcoming <em>Miami Vice &#8217;85<\/em>, a fresh new take on the eponymous 80s cop show. And, what&#8217;s more, sources are stating Leguizamo&#8217;s been tapped to play the film&#8217;s main villain.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content-module-scss-module__RI8h6a__content\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>Penned by&nbsp;<em>Nightcrawler<\/em>&nbsp;writer-director \u2014 and brother of&nbsp;<em>Andor<\/em>&nbsp;showrunner Tony Gilroy \u2014 Dan Gilroy, Kosinski&#8217;s retooling of <em>Miami Vice<\/em> is set to see Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler take on the roles of Detectives Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, the sharp-dressing undercover cop duo who cruise the Miami strip busting drug dealers and listening to era-appropriate bangers. Now, at this stage it&#8217;s unknown what exactly Leguizamo&#8217;s role will entail, or indeed what the film&#8217;s plot more broadly involves, but we <em>do<\/em> know that Kosinski&#8217;s film \u2014 the first screen take on the franchise since Michael Mann&#8217;s 2006 movie \u2014 is set to take a deep dive into the glamour and corruption of Miami in the decade the original series was born. We also know that Danny Ramirez, Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, and Camila Morrone are also making the trip to Vice City for this one.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content-module-scss-module__RI8h6a__content\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>Due to enter production in New York and Miami this November, <em>Miami Vice &#8217;85<\/em> is being filmed for IMAX and revving up for a planned May 19, 2028 release.
