Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/em> is the highest-grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office. Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/em> is the third-highest-grossing film of all time, period. Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/em> is still<\/em> in cinemas worldwide, with Tom Holland’s triumphant wall-crawling return continuing to entertain the masses months after its release. And Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/em> is, according to Deadline<\/em>, also preparing to hop on Avengers: Endgame Encore<\/em>‘s bandwagon with a new cinema re-release featuring a bunch of extra, previously unseen footage.<\/p>\n

Per Deadline<\/em>‘s ‘The Dish’ sidebar, sources are saying that Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spidey fourquel is looking to capitalise on its staggering theatrical run with an extended cut, which would include \u2014 among other things \u2014 previously cut scenes involving MCU ‘Netflix Era’ fan-favourite Claire Temple, the vigilante-tending nurse played by Rosario Dawson. Now, Dawson has spoken publicly about her involvement in the movie since Brand New Day<\/em>‘s release, so we know<\/em> that footage is out there, somewhere. And there is<\/em> a suspiciously Claire Temple shaped gap in the movie between a certain event involving Tom Holland’s Spidey, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, and an impromptu hospital trip to consider, too. All of which is to say that a ‘Temple Cut’ (as nobody is calling it) does make a fair bit of sense.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the more intriguing, eyebrow-raising element of Brand New Day<\/em>‘s purported re-release plans is Deadline<\/em>‘s comment that “we understand that there will be more surprises in the extra footage.” Could that extra footage retroactively help tee up Avengers: Doomsday, Endgame Encore<\/em> style? Might we get an extended oner of Pete, MJ, and Ned building Lego, quoting Lord Of The Rings<\/em>, and eating Banh Mi? Or do Kevin Feige and co have something even more tantalising (and money-spinning) in store? Well, we don’t actually<\/em> have official confirmation of Spider-Man: Brand New Day Encore \u2014 The Temple Cut<\/em>, but we suspect all will be revealed soon enough… and probably before December 16.
