The Witcher 3 Remastered released earlier today, and while it seems to work great for Nvidia graphics cards, AMD users are reporting a wealth of bugs and visual artifacts. <\/p>\n

Some of the issues reported are trees missing from the environment and black artifacts appearing through the the game, according to a post on the \/r\/Radeon subreddit. Another Reddit post shows the foliage in White Orchard in a way that appears like it was run through a negative filter. Then, over on Twitter, user NikTek shared a clip outside of Novigrad, with a lot of the same graphics glitches, only this time when he goes into the river, the surface of the water starts blinking like a strobe light. <\/p>\n

If you’re on AMD, don’t bother playing the game until AMD releases the new drivers because it doesn’t work<\/p>\n

The common factor among all of these issues is AMD Radeon graphics cards. CD Projekt Red does seem to be aware of the problems, and has posted on X\/Twitter recommending players upgrade their graphics driver to a supported version. For now, though, the problem is that the supported Radeon driver, Adrenalin 26.9.2, has not yet been released. The most recent Radeon driver, Adrenalin 26.8.1, was released on August 20.<\/p>\n

For anyone trying to play The Witcher 3 Remastered on an AMD graphics card right now, the best option is to just wait for AMD to release its new driver. It’s not clear why CD Projekt Red released the game without making sure it works on existing AMD drivers, but it’s possible that the Radeon driver was delayed. I’ve reached out to both AMD and CD Projekt Red for comment on this, and I’ll update this story if and when I hear anything. <\/p>\n

But regardless of temporary glitches on AMD hardware, the remastered version of The Witcher 3 comes with a whole host of gameplay and graphics improvements that really bring the game into the current generation. Just keep in mind that if you want to max the game out with path tracing, you’re going to need an incredibly powerful gaming PC.<\/p>\n
