One of the company&#8217;s most hotly anticipated \u2014 and long awaited \u2014 projects is, however, about to take an unforeseen sabbatical. Per <em>Deadline<\/em>&#8216;s reporting, production on <em>The Batman Part II<\/em> \u2014 which had finally started filming this summer after several delays \u2014 has been paused due to director Matt Reeves having to temporarily step away for undisclosed personal reasons.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content-module-scss-module__RI8h6a__content\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>In a statement shared by <em>Deadline<\/em>, Warner Bros. affirmed their support for Reeves and commitment to bringing its sequel to <em>The Batman<\/em> to our screens. \u201cProduction on&nbsp;<em>The Batman Part II<\/em>&nbsp;has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter,\u201d said the studio&#8217;s statement. \u201cMatt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.\u201d As above stated, the nature and cause of Reeves&#8217; absence is unknown, as is whether the ongoing situation may have any impact on the movie&#8217;s planned February 18, 2028 cinema release. <em>Deadline<\/em>&#8216;s sources simply state that it&#8217;s too early to say one way or another what effect the current stoppage could have on DC&#8217;s theatrical slate.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><span class=\"content-module-scss-module__RI8h6a__content\" data-test=\"content\"><\/p>\n<p>With the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham, and Sebastian Koch all set to appear in Reeves&#8217; long-gestating sequel in as-yet-undisclosed roles alongside a returning Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell, <em>The Batman Part II<\/em> may be shrouded by secrecy and may have faced its fair share of difficulties on its path to our screens, but after <em>that<\/em> first film we maintain high hopes that the juice will have proven well worth the squeeze. Until then, while we don&#8217;t know what Matt Reeves may be going through right now, our thoughts are with him and we sincerely hope he is able to get back to doing what he does best in the near future.
