We’ve had the highs of Daredevil: Born Again and Wonder Man, and we’ve had the lows of Daredevil: Born Again setting a Season 3 wrap-up and Wonder Man getting cancelled. But at the studio’s NYCC presentation today, Marvel TV chief Brad Winderbaum has officially revealed something recently rumoured but now tantalisingly confirmed: Zodiac, a new live-action spy thriller series set to hit Disney+ in 2028. And this could be very interesting — just check out the title reveal below;

Well that’s not not an Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D ‘A’ in that title treatment, is it? Yes, while ABC’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D series — which followed the exploits of peacekeeping spy agency Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division — ended its seven-season run back in 2020, with the likes of S.W.O.R.D and the DoDC seeming to fill the organisation’s place in the MCU since, it certainly looks like Zodiac may be preparing to bring them back in some way. While nothing has officially been confirmed other than the series’ title, genre, and a planned Spring 2027 London shoot ahead of a 2028 Disney+ drop, Zodiac — first floated in the wake of news of Daredevil: Born Again‘s ending — does share a name with a prominent comics criminal organisation most commonly seen butting heads with *drum roll* those pesky Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Surely that can’t just be a coincidence, right? Right? Well, we don’t know, but that eagly ‘A’ sure has got our Spidey senses tingling…

Now, while news of a new live-action MCU TV series will always be welcome here at Empire HQ, we have been burnt before (*cough* Secret Invasion *cough*), and so we’ll proceed with caution for the time being until we hear a little more about this one. But still, with Kevin Feige looking to adopt a more quality-over-quantity approach to the MCU’s small-screen outings going forwards, and at least a hope here that S.H.I.E.L.D may be making a comeback, consider us very curious to see whether Zodiac turns out to be a killer.
