Early decisions include the end of the controversial \u2018This is an Xbox\u2019 marketing campaign, quickfire new Xbox console features, and switching from \u2018Xbox\u2019 to \u2018XBOX\u2019 in official branding.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">But yesterday, following the delay of Fable to early 2027, Microsoft confirmed it would &#8220;continue the precedent&#8221; by highlighting competing platforms during its 2026 Xbox Showcase on June 7. So now seems as good a time as any to look back at the entire history of Microsoft\u2019s console journey and rank the best Xbox games, with help from our friends at Outside Xbox, the multimillion-subscriber channel that serves up weekly videos about video games and video game-adjacent things<\/p>\n<p>When we say \u201cthe best Xbox games,\u201d we mean the ones that most evoke that weighty sense of \u201cXboxness.\u201d Some are first-party, most are exclusives, and all of them are indelibly tied to the legacy of and fondness for a platform that\u2019s left a massive mark on gaming. These are the 100 Best Xbox Games of All Time. Earlier this month, it was reported that Sharma was \u201ctreading carefully\u201d as she worked out what to do with exclusive games, but Microsoft has said it will \u201creevaluate our approach to exclusivity,\u201d a tantalizing tease particularly for core fans who feel Xbox consoles have been devalued amid the company\u2019s multiplatform push in recent years. Indeed, a return to Xbox exclusives topped the recently launched \u2018XBOX Player Voice\u2019 platform.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">So, by highlighting the fact most of the games we\u2019ll see in the Xbox Game Showcase are also coming to PS5, Microsoft is hammering home the point that it has no actual exclusive games, unlike Sony, which is retreating further into console exclusivity having pulled back from PC. It was a miss, and I own it. We are talking about how we adjust for future XBOX shows.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">That response in itself has sparked discussion, with IGN\u2019s own Ryan McCaffrey wondering how exactly pretending a game doesn\u2019t exist on other platforms during your showcase helps gamers. \u201cExclusives are another matter, but if it&#8217;s multiplatform, why try to convince anyone otherwise?\u201d he tweeted.<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">&#8220;IMHO the people that are upset about this are really just upset that those games aren&#8217;t exclusive to Xbox. I don&#8217;t think pretending something is exclusive during your Showcase when it&#8217;s really not is particularly beneficial to anyone.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Others, though, are happy with the response. \u201cXBOX Showcase needs to be for XBOX fans,\u201d said one fan. \u201cYou can\u2019t win over new fans or keep current fans when promoting you don\u2019t need an XBOX at your biggest spotlight of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Clearly, Sharma faces a tough job turning Xbox around financially while keeping hardcore fans on-side. It seems unlikely that Microsoft will all of a sudden ditch its multiplatform push, especially when it sees so much success on PS5 with the likes of the Forza Horizon games. As it stands, the big picture remains the same, whatever the case with logos. Earlier this week, Sharma reportedly warned staff that \u201chard choices\u201d are ahead for Xbox.
