AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D is the best gaming CPU for most people

AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D is considered to be one of the best gaming processors on the market and outperforms any Intel or AMD non-X3D chip in games thanks to AMD’s 3D-V-Cache technology. It only has eight cores, but that makes no difference in gaming since most games can’t utilize more than eight cores (if that) anyways. That’s why its gaming performance is better than the 9900X3D and negligibly close to the 9950X3D, even though both are considerably pricier.

64GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM is a $900+ upgrade, and that won’t change in 2026

A quick check on Amazon and Newegg reveals that 64GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM currently sells for at least $850, with most options closer to $1,000+. Thanks to the overwhelming success of the AI market, RAM pricing is not expected to get any better in the near future. Even heavy hitters like Valve have stated that “it has no bargaining power when it comes to buying memory from the limited number of companies that produce it at scale and control the bulk of the market.”

The RTX 5090 is the most powerful graphics card ever and costs $4,000+ by itself

If you thought GPUs were going down in price, guess again. Although some of the mid-range cards (particularly on the AMD side) have indeed seen recent discounts, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU is actually even more expensive that it was at the beginning of the year. The cost to acquire one of these golden eggs standalone is now north of $4,000.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 is still far and away the most powerful consumer GPU on the market.
