Ubisoft is giving Xbox owners free access to some of their games on PC.
Today, Ubisoft and Xbox revealed a new expansion to their ongoing partnership. Starting immediately, those who own the following games on Xbox will get them for free on PC through Ubisoft Connect by August 4th:
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
- Far Cry 6
- Immortals Fenyx Rising
- Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
- Riders Republic
- Skull and Bones
- The Crew 2
- The Crew Motorfest
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
The games should appear in your Ubisoft Connect library by next week, so long as your accounts are linked. If you happen to purchase these games on Xbox later, you will get them on PC automatically. Unfortunately, this doesn’t go both ways. If you buy one of these games on PC first, you will not get it on Xbox. If you’re someone who previously played on console, but made the jump to PC, this is a great benefit.
Additionally, Ubisoft has also added a bunch of premium editions for Ubisoft games like Assassin’s Creed Shadows to Xbox’s PC app. Recently, Xbox has been making a lot of moves toward PC. It’s unclear if this is all part of one big deliberate plan or if it’s coincidental, but last week, Xbox made select backward-compatible titles for the OG Xbox available on PC. More titles are expected to be added in the future.
There are also rumors that Microsoft is planning a feature that will let players digitize their physical games library, possibly ahead of the next Xbox console. However, with this ongoing shift toward PC, it could make them accessible on PC. It’s believed the next Xbox is expected to be more PC-like, so this could all be part of one big initatitve to prepare for the next-generation of Xbox.
