Meghan Markle Circling Acting Return In Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen Netflix Series

The world of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix gangster series The Gentlemen — spun-off from the Brit auteur’s same-named 2019 Matthew McConaughey movie — is no stranger to Dukes, Duchesses, Lords, and Ladies. But at the end of a week in which we’ve learned that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving back to Britain after six years across the pond, THR is reporting that one of those very real royals might be gearing up to drop into Ritchie’s morally murky world of crime families, crosses, and double-crosses. And we’ll give you a clue: it ain’t Harry.

Yes, as first scooped by Deadline and then reaffirmed by THR, it looks like Suits star Meghan Markle is eyeing a return to acting after some nine years away, with a part already being written for the Duchess of Sussex in an as-yet-unconfirmed third season of The Gentlemen. Per THR‘s sources, Markle and Ritchie met through mutual acquaintances, and clearly hit it off well enough for the former to start seriously considering an acting return to our screens and the latter to get to work with his mob drama’s writing team on finding a way to weave Markle into the show’s narrative. It remains unknown at this point the extent of Markle’s proposed role in the show, but presumably it’s fairly substantial — well, substantial enough at least to lure her back to our screens after the best part of a decade out of the game.

Regardless of whether Meghan Markle winds up joining the cast of The Gentlemen or not, there’s no shortage of excitement ahead for fans of Guy Ritchie’s sweary spin-off series. Season 2 of The Gentlemen is right around the corner, with the latest instalment in the saga of Theo James’ Eddie Horniman, Kaya Scodelario’s Susie Glass, and their many, many friends/foes/associates due to hit Netflix on 3 September — bringing with it high stakes and tough calls for Eddie and Susie both as they look to consolidate their combustible alliance and expand the criminal empire of mob boss Bobby (Ray Winstone).
