Wake up Samurai, Cyberpunk is back. While CD Projekt Red’s original game had a bumpy launch, a bit of TLC has turned Cyberpunk 2077 into a much-loved RPG. Along with the success of spin-off anime series Edgerunners on Netflix, fans have been clamouring for a reason to revisit Night City. The good news is we now have an all-new season of Edgerunners on the way, and with its newly announced release date, we’ve also got a brand-new trailer:
Released as part of a slate of announcements for Netflix’s anime lineup, the new trailer gives us a glimpse of what we can expect from the action-packed second season, including an all-new cast of characters, plenty of wild-looking cyberware, and what appear to be some Braindance sequences that seem to have been ripped straight out of the game. Given how insane some of the action sequences were in the first season, it’s good to see that the show’s second outing looks to be upping the ante and doubling down on its over-the-top style – with guns firing literally everywhere, and diving into some of the murky politics of the city. And we won’t have to wait long to see it, as the season is dropping on October 20.
This season was once again created as a collaboration between game developers CD Projekt Red and famous animation studio Trigger, and it certainly looks like they’ve cooked up something that Johnny Silverhand would be proud of. See you back in Night City.
