Fortnite has officially confirmed its long-awaited Kingdom Hearts collaboration, with teases for at least four skins.
A brief teaser trailer posted to Fortnite’s social channels shows Kingdom Hearts poster boy Sora picking up the series’ iconic keyblade and posing for the camera. Yep, there’s no doubt here — Sora is definitely becoming a Fortnite skin.
Text-based teasers also released by developer Epic Games suggest three other Kingdom Hearts characters are also coming along for the ride, including Riku, Kairi and Roxas. (Sadly, there’s no sign of Mickey yet — though the idea of him cranking 90’s while holding a shotgun seems unlikely.)

Kingdom Hearts will be the latest gaming franchise to join Fortnite during Override, its current video game-themed season, which has already added Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, Dr. Robotnik, Crash Bandicoot and Mega Man, among others. Other upcoming additions have also been rumoured, with fans crossing their fingers for representation from Persona and Final Fantasy 7.
Override is currently having something of a cooler reception among fans than Runners, Fortnite’s previous last season which went down as one of the game’s best. The playerbase seems split over whether Fortnite’s Pokémon-like Sprites need to be retired or revamped to still feel fresh, and player numbers have dipped slightly from this summer’s recent highs.
As ever, Fortnite is already gearing itself up for its annual end-of-year festivities, with the Halloween-themed Fortnitemares set to arrive next month. One work-in-progress building on the current battle royale Island looks suspiciously like a Five Nights at Freddy’s reference, which may well be a tie-in for that. And then there are already whispers that the game will transition into another month-long mini-season in November, with One Piece now being tipped as part of the fun.
Kingdom Hearts 4, meanwhile, is in development at Square Enix for PC and consoles and is due out next year.
