Everything You Need to Know About the New Star Wars Content in Fortnite

Star Wars Day is nearly here, and to mark the May 4th celebration, Fortnite, Disney and Lucasfilm are teaming up to bring brand new Star Wars games and rewards to Epic’s battle royale behemoth. IGN went behind the scenes to find out more about what to expect from the stellar collaboration.

The Games

Three new Fortnite islands have been created offering very different Star Wars experiences. Back in March, Epic announced it was giving all Fortnite creators access to special Star Wars assets, and these are just some of the results.

“After years of creating Star Wars experiences with Disney and Lucasfilm, we gave Star Wars’ heroes, worlds and assets to Fortnite creators so they could build the experiences they’ve always dreamed of playing,” said Adam Sussman, President of Epic Games. “It’s now possible to create a limitless variety of games in the Star Wars universe that anyone in Fortnite can play.”

Star Wars: Galactic Siege by JOGO Studios is a AAA take on a Star Wars capture the flag game, with 10v10 PvP class-based battles across the Star Wars galaxy. There’s an extra treat on the way too, after the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu a new map will be added to the game.

Star Wars: Droid Tycoon gives players the chance to build droids using real Star Wars blueprints, with more than 40 in-game droids to construct. The game was created by “FOAD” (Fear of a Dawn).

Escape Vader is a 4-player co-op game where you… well, you can guess. Set on a wrecked Star Destroyer you’ll need to work with your team as you’re hunted by the deadly daddy. It was created by Beyond Creative.

IGN spoke to James Waugh, Senior Vice President of Franchise Story and Creative Strategy at Lucasfilm about the collaboration, and just how this new experience fits into the overall Star Wars canon.
