What Is Halo: Campaign Evolved?

Halo: Campaign Evolved is an Unreal Engine 5 remake of 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved. It features the original 10-mission campaign alongside something new that was revealed during the most recent Xbox Games Showcase: Operation: METEORITE.

According to an Xbox Wire post from Brian Jarrard, Community Director at Halo Studios, “Included with every edition of Halo: Campaign Evolved, Operation: METEORITE is a new three-mission story arc that takes place a year before the events of the first game. Featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson, this new adventure sends players behind enemy lines in a clandestine UNSC operation aboard a Covenant research vessel.”

IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey was also able to play a bit of Halo: Campaign Evolved last year and wrote in a preview, “I’m still left with many unanswered questions about this remake project. But to Halo Studios’ credit, this early demo did answer a couple of key ones about how good it could look and how Halo-y it could feel.”
