Ever since the first season of Ahsoka ended, Star Wars fans have been left on a series of major cliffhangers: Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren are stranded in another galaxy on Peridea, where giant statues of the Mortis gods are hewn in rock; Grand Admiral Thrawn has returned to the main Star Wars galaxy with domination on his mind; and Ezra Bridger has finally been reunited with Hera Syndulla and Chopper. And from the first look at Season 2, the wait will have been worth it – Dave Filoni’s next chapter looks gigantic and action-packed, as seen in a new trailer that played at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California.
Phew! That’s a big trailer, showing all-out galactic war courtesy of Thrawn, lots of fiery Nightsister brawling (that red planet has to be Dathomir, right?), Ahsoka and Sabine venturing out into the wilds of Peridea, and Ezra and Hera trying to muster New Republic support amid the rising threat. Plus, Rory McCann’s Baylan Skoll – inheriting the role from the late, great, dearly missed Ray Stevenson – and Ivanna Sakhno’s Shin Hati are exploring the ancient mythos of the Force. And that’s not to mention more flashbacks from Hayden Christensen’s Clone Wars-era Anakin Skywalker joined by Ariana Greenblatt’s young Ahsoka, probing at an existential question: is she a Jedi or not?
It looks like an ambitious return for the series, which put Ahsoka centre stage while continuing several characters from Star Wars Rebels, expanding the New Republic era with the Imperial Remnant’s comeback plot, and bringing an epic fantasy sweep to the whole thing. What’s in store for Ahsoka? Will a streaming series be able to deliver a full-scope war from Thrawn? And will we see more Loth-cats? We’ll find out when Ahsoka Season 2 streams on Disney+ from January 10, 2027.
