It’s hard to believe that in a world where we regularly wait several years between seasons of The Rings Of Power and House Of The Dragon (or, by the time it comes out, six years between The Batman movies), Apple TV has somehow managed to put out five stonking seasons of top-notch spy series Slow Horses in the last four years alone. And, like clockwork, Slow Horses Season 6 — adapting Mick Herron’s sixth and seventh Slough House novels — is set to hit our screens next month, promising more Jackson Lamb, more high stakes spycraft, and… the return of Olivia Cooke’s Sid Baker? (We never did see a body, did we?) Yeah, those Slow Horses ain’t slowing down — and you can check out the Season 6 trailer below;
Well, that was about as tense, dark, and ominous as a lethal Jackson Lamb fart, wasn’t it? Blimey! Sure, it starts — as you would rightly expect at this point — with Gary Oldman’s Jackson Lamb pissing off MI5 First Desk Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas). But it isn’t long before we learn that someone (or sometwo — namely The Witcher‘s MyAnna Buring and Andor‘s Kyle Soller) is targeting Slough House agents past and present, forcing the team to go dark as they face a major existential threat and deal with other pressing matters, like the aforementioned return of Olivia Cooke’s Sid… and, if you’re Jack Lowden’s River Cartwright, then a showdown with a Hugo Weaving shaped ne’er-do-well father. Yikes!
The very brief official synopsis for Slow Horses Season 6 — which also stars Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Jonathan Pryce, and cast newcomer Lenny Rush — simply reads: “Season Six sees the Slow Horses on the run as Diana Taverner embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.”
What has Sid been up to all this time? Who exactly is it that’s tracking down and killing Slough House’s alumni? And when oh when will Roddy learn to put his ruddy phone down, eh? We’ll find out the answer to those questions and more when Slow Horses Season 6 canters onto Apple TV on 16 September. (And yes, just in case you were wondering, Season 7 is already confirmed and on its way!)
